Yerba Mate Radio Talk in Buenos Aires

Jan 10, 2012

yerba mate radioYesterday I was graciously invited to give an impromptu talk about mate, here in Buenos Aires, for a local radio station called ‘The Typical Mistake’. It went really well. I spoke about everything from mate history to mate as a symbol, more than a drink. I also got to speak about my — could you call it a theory? — “creative clarity” idea that I live by; which is, mate basically has a way of clearing and refreshing the mind, creating a perfect environment for clarity and ease of thought — hence, where the creativity comes in.

Here’s the radio clip. My talk is broken down in 4 segments, separated by 4 songs in between. So please be patient and listen to the whole thing — there’s some great stuff in this talk!

List to interview here

  1. Bruno Truiti

David! You really are a real mate expert. You kick some serious ass. I’m a mate drinker myself, from southern Brazil.

I just wanted to let you know that the name of the plant is Ilex Paraguariensis (I thought I heard you pronounce the Ilex part something else).

One more thing: The plant is an indigenous species not only of Paraguay, but also part of Argentina (at least Missiones, that I’m sure of) and southern Brazil. As a forest engineer, I can tell you that Ilex is indigenous to all three states of southern Brazil (Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina and Paraná).

You’re a real professional. I’ve learned loads of things with this radio interview alone. I wonder how much more you have to teach about such an interesting subject.

I’d love to have a chat with you on skype, so we could share some knowledge on Yerba mate (Erva mate for us in Brazil).

You’ll find me on skype as bruno.truiti

Keep up the good work, brother!

  2. Dave Mate

    Bruno, you rock!

Thanks so much for your feedback.

I’m interested in hearing your thoughts and information on yerba.

    Let’s chat this week.
